The Role

We are seeking a Landscape Ecologist with a strong interest in landscape design to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to bring your expertise to projects that make a real difference, while developing your career in a supportive and ambitious environment.

As a Landscape Ecologist at Enims, you will:

• Lead on landscape design and planning, integrating ecological principles into creative, practical solutions.

• Undertake ecological surveys, assessments, and ongoing monitoring across a variety of landscapes.

• Deliver Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) strategies, ensuring compliance with legislation and embedding BNG into design outcomes.

• Provide technical input into Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), habitat creation, and management plans.

• Collaborate with colleagues and clients to design and deliver projects that balance ecological integrity with landscape vision.

• Contribute to project delivery from initial scoping through to reporting, recommendations, design implementation, and monitoring of outcomes.

• Has a strong background in ecology, landscape architecture, environmental science, or a related discipline.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our Southampton office. This is a leadership role for someone with significant experience who is ready to take responsibility for delivering complex projects, mentoring colleagues, and shaping outcomes that make a real difference.

As a Senior Ecologist at Enims, you will:

• Lead and oversee ecological surveys, assessments, and monitoring programmes.

• Drive delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) strategies and ensure integration into project design.

• Hold multiple Natural England protected species licences and apply them confidently in project delivery.

• Provide senior-level technical input into Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), habitat creation, and management plans.

• Mentor and support junior and consultant colleagues, fostering growth and progression.

• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to deliver innovative, practical, and high-quality solutions.

• Take responsibility for project delivery from scoping through to implementation and long-term monitoring.

• Undertake daily travel to project sites, often covering significant distances, as a core part of the role. Flexibility, resilience, and readiness to travel are essential to supporting clients and delivering projects on the ground.

• Complete mandatory training to ensure professional standards and compliance are consistently upheld.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has extensive experience in ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.

• Brings strong technical expertise in surveys, assessments, monitoring, and BNG delivery.

• Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a car.

• Is pragmatic, adaptable, and able to balance technical rigour with practical solutions.

• Is dedicated, hardworking, and passionate about ecology and sustainable landscape design.

• Enjoys leading and mentoring within a collaborative, respectful, and supportive team.

• Is motivated by growth and progression, both personally and for the wider team.
