Senior Consultant Ecologist Vacancy 

We are excited to now be recruiting for additional senior ecologists to join our team. We have won a number of new contracts and are in the fortunate position to now be able to recruit for more people to join our wonderful team and be a part of our company.

For this role we are looking for someone who holds at least 2 years expertise in the ecological and environmental field and understands consultancy practice.

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive individual who strives to achieve high standards of work, has experience of working with a variety of clients, managing their own workload and being a positive influence to our team . The candidate will be driven to grow and develop, striving for building their career, and environmental understanding, adopting new practices, but also in driving and supporting the business in the continued growth and development as we achieve, together, outstanding services to our clients and make our true impact on improving the environmental status of the works we are delivering day in and day out.

 

Our ideal candidate will be happy to join our team and to bring your experience and skills to compliment our teams current skillset and abilities. The role will require you to have an understanding of highways, rail, and engineering work as well as domestic consultancy work.

You will have a good knowledge of ecology consultancy and will hold a class 2 licence or be ready to apply for a their class 2 licence, ideally for bats, but other species including dormouse will be considered.

You will be involved in having a pragmatic approach and be able to manage multiple projects. You will have good time management skills and be able to liaise with clients, manage delivery and support our junior team. Your communication skills will be excellent as well as the ability to meet deadlines.

As a ecologist with experience, you will understand that your role will be varied and that you will be required to deliver both on site and based in the office. Although flexible and home working is offered to the right candidate.

This role will be primarily based at our Southampton Office in Hampshire . However for the right candidate we would consider other locations. 

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous ecology experience, preferably in consultancy

  • Will have excellent Health and Safety understanding and be prepared to undertake and participate in regular health and safety training.

  • Hold a BSc in relevant subject as a minimum

  • Hold full UK Manual Driving Licence

  • Be willing to attend site and undertake field work within the UK

  • Have a willingness to learn and to develop skills and undertake training

  • Have good IT skills, be confident using Office 365 (including outlook) and a cloud based system

  • Hold a CSCS card

  • Be a full or associate member of CIEEM

  • Have Strong knowledge of wildlife legislation and the relevance to the work we do

  • Have a strong client facing approach with a drive to develop and build on working relationships

  • Be willing to develop more business and develop contacts and actively seek opportunities for work opportunities

  • Have experience with BNG conditions assessments, UK habitats assessments and protected species surveys

  • Hold one or more Natural England Protected Species Licence

  • Experience of leading on projects and managing case load of projects with excellent client focus and being able to have a pragmatic and timely approach.

  • Have an in-depth understanding of highways and/ or rail works, and management of environmental side of projects in relation to highways and rail

  • Dedicated and committed to the continued development of enims and of your skills and expertise and career in order to continually provide the highest of standards to our clients

  • A positive attitude to work and willingness to be a team player and understand the importance of delivering high quality work.

  • Able to comfortably work independently as a representative of enims

  • Able to work with both internal expert’s and specialist sub-contractors competently. You will be an excellent team member and be willing to support others in the team and work as part of a team at all times.

  • You will have a keen interest in all round ecology
