Dormouse Licensed  Ecologist 

We are recruiting for an experienced dormouse licensed ecologist to join our small and friendly team. We are ideally looking for the right candidate to be located in the South East, however, we do welcome applications from anywhere in the South from individuals who are willing to travel far and wide for the purpose of undertaking a project.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience of holding a Dormouse Licence and the associate planning process for development licences. They will have experience in ecological consultancy and will be flexible in their working, with a pragmatic and solution focused approach. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a drive to deliver to the highest quality at all times. They will understand the work that we are involved in and bring innovation to improve and develop the organisation and themselves.

 

Part of this role will require the candidate to work on highways and rail sites, in all weather conditions and work a variety of shifts which will include days, nights and weekends. This requires the candidate to be able to have concentration for extended periods of time, be a good team player and have exemplary health and safety knowledge and conduct at all times. Being a good communicator is vital in this role, as is the need to manage own projects. Communication with colleagues and clients is of upmost importance and to be undertaken in a professional way and with respect at all times.

 

You will:

 

  • Hold BSc (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject

  • Have a Natural England Dormouse Licence as a minimum

  • Have consultancy experience and ability to work on highways, rail and deliver ECoW works on sites.

  • Have excellent Health and Safety Knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills with both clients, company partners and colleagues

  • Hold a CSCS card

  • Be willing or hold a safety critical medical for works on highways and rail

  • You will have CIEEM ( or equivalent) membership

  • You will have a good work ethic with a positive attitude and be a good problem solver as well as being able to use own initiative

  • You will have excellent IT skills and be confident in using IT software for the purpose of work and communication

  • You will have a full UK driving licence and a vehicle which you can use for work purposes.

  • It would be advantageous to hold other species licences, but this is not essential
